Alpine K9 is a structured dog daycare and training centre in Portage la Prairie, MB, founded by Grayson Butler, Certified Trainer, in 2024. What started as a vision to help dogs and their people grow has become a dedicated training facility to support the local dog community in building their relationships with their dogs. Emotional regulation, clear communication, and boundary setting are the foundation of the training approach, helping dogs work through their big feelings, such as anxiety, overstimulation, and reactivity.

Grayson’s passion for dog training began at a young age. From attending dog shows with his late grandfather to rescuing dogs alongside his grandmother, dogs were always a meaningful part of his life. In his spare time, he loved teaching the family dogs new tricks, and what started as a childhood passion soon grew into a lifelong calling.

Volunteering as a companion to adoptable dogs at their adoption events in his early years led to fostering dogs for Portage Animal Welfare Society and welcoming dogs in need into his home. This connection to PAWS grew into a training partnership, helping rescue dogs with their socialization, basic manners, and overcoming complex behaviour challenges.

Committed to continued learning, Grayson holds an associate membership with the International Association of Canine Professionals and has dual certifications from Heather’s Heroes Academy in its Certified Trainer Program and Keep Calm & Play On: Daycare Socialization Certification Program. If you ask him, there is a long list of programs he is eager to take in the upcoming years. Stay tuned.

Grayson loves to make sure that each and every dog is loved and valued and, of course, given an extra reward here and there after a long training session. This love pours into all services and programs. Whether your dog is there for Daycare, Day Training or an immersive Board & Train, Grayson is here to help them work through their feelings, develop more social confidence, and find their peace in everyday life.
